Dengue Fever Treatment

Antiviral drugs are given first after examining the blood test and patient dengue fever symptoms. The antiviral drugs are given in various dosages as a patient starts to recover. The patient needs 24/7 care from a trusted hospital with a lab and good medical infrastructure. The patient’s bed must be covered with a mosquito net. This will not worsen the patient’s dengue fever condition. Supportive care is necessary for the patient from a good hospital. They need intravenous fluids. A few patients may need blood transfusions. As of now, there is no vaccine available to treat dengue fever. A preventive vaccine is available in some countries. Yet, those vaccines are costly.

The people living in a tropical zone must take preventative measures before the start of the rainy season. It is advisable to see that your home surroundings are not with stagnated water. The Aedes mosquitoes usually bite in the day hours. It is advisable to use mosquito repellant creams and electronic ones to get protection from mosquito bites. If you have children in your home, they must be in a mosquito netted area. In this way, anyone can prevent dengue fever. This is an infection only. It is communicable through mosquitoes only. It is not advisable to travel to those counties where this fever is common to find during the rainy season.
